I wanted to contact you on behalf of our organization Elati, based on the island of Kefalonia in Greece, to inform you that our volunteers in Chicago are holding a Candlelight Vigil for National Homeless Animals’ Day on August 17th in the grounds of The Lawrence Hall School for children with special needs.
We are inviting all other Animal Shelters, Animal Welfare Groups and Animal Rights Groups to join with them as we believe our groups all have a similar goal; to stop the senseless killing of healthy dogs and cats due to the overwhelming pet overpopulation crisis.
As this is an internationally recognized day which is marked by dedicated animal welfare groups and dedicated individuals holding candlelight vigils all over the world to bring public attention to the magnitude of the pet overpopulation tragedy - which is now a problem world wide. We also are sending out this invitation to join us to schools and parents groups etc. in an effort to spread the word to our next generation of animal owners.
Be responsible pet owners - spay and neuter your pets and stop the sensless killings that take place to try to eliminate the problem.

issues and responsibilities of Pet owners. Many of our pet owners
do NOT pick up after their pets even though there is are laws and
ordinances.
We are looking at any way to motivate pet owners to
to acknowledge their responsiblity to their fellow residents, the
many construction and city workers, other pets and wildlife.
On July 4th we have a community Kid & Pet Parade that is very popular.
We are looking for products and information to give out at this well
attended community activity to promote pet responsibility.
